I moved back to New York, and it’s 98 degrees here, just like the band. Living in a desert climate, I almost forgot what it felt like to sweat through your underwear. So glamorous, so… in the moment. It’s also election day here in New York, which is exciting. For one, you get to see what your neighbors look like with a sticker on. Very different from their non-sticker look.
In wanna get away news, Murder on Sex Island comes out today! It’s available to purchase from bookstores or get for free from libraries. You can also listen to the audiobook if you’re into that. I’m the narrator, so there’s a guaranteed midwestern twang.
I originally wrote this book thinking it would be a steamy, psycho-sexual thriller popping off the shelves. I ended up self-publishing it and turning it into a free audiobook/podcast with the help of Bari Finkel and Gabrielle Lewis, and then did 5 more drafts, and now it’s finally a published book about a murder that takes place on the set of a reality show called Sex Island. It’s not as steamy as I’d hoped it would be (I can’t bring myself to write out intercourse. IDK, I tried, but it was all like, “she sat on him and he moved”) but there’s definitely at least a few psycho-sexual thrills. I’ve been watching this season of Love Island USA, and while I’m glad there’s no murder in it, there is a hot male nurse and two Zac/Zak’s, so it feels close to the text.
There’s a book release show tonight at Littlefield with Ziwe, Aaron Jackson, and Gary Richardson, and I’ll be signing books after if you want to come by! Doors open at 7pm, show starts at 8.
Passions today include: enjoy the book and vote if you can and get a big glass of lemonade for yourself imagine the ice cubes clinking together mmm.
