I met some ducks last weekend, and I really got a kick out of them. They quacked so loud and ate their little worm snacks with so much fervor, I thought they should be writing this newsletter. This was passion. Yet another week in 2025, inspired by ducks.
Passions this week include: Murray Hill on Elsbeth, five caffeines a day, turtlenecks.
Murray Hill popped up in the most recent episode of Elsbeth! I don’t know how many of you are up to date on CBS’s Elsbeth, but if Murray Hill is popping up as “NY Crime Tour Guide,” you better catch up!!! Also starring Alyssa Milano and she wears animal prints the whole episode!
I have started drinking five caffeines a day, four coffees and one soda. I think I’ll stop once a tooth falls out, but for now, it’s what I most look forward to. Without all five, my head starts to ache and my personality becomes “someone who nods but doesn’t speak.” My favorite is Philz Coffee, because their coffee drinks taste like liquid cookies. I take a big sip and then I gotta run around the room, I’m so jazzed!
If you wear a turtleneck, no one can stop you from rolling it so far up your head, only your eyes pop out. If anyone says something, you can snap back by saying IT IS FASHION THAT WAY.
And now some from the readers…
Roxanne: “Sunflower seeds (shelled)! I quit smoking a few years ago but couldn’t shake those stupid little nicotine pouches until recently, and I think a lot of it was just oral fixation. I can’t keep gum in the house because I have dogs, but sunflower seeds have stepped to the plate. The flavors they have now are truly advanced- Old Bay! Pickle! The possibilities are endless!”
Annamaria: “One of my passions this week is watching short films. I love seeing what artists cannot deny themselves to bring to life, for the sake of creative expression and storytelling. Shorts don't have much of a lifespan (or return on investment), so there's a lot of purity to the intention and to the vision, and a lot of innovation due to the limited resources and running time. Which to me, is a great way to find new talent that excites me in both my job and in my personal enjoyment. I keep a running list of my favorite writers/directors from all the shorts I watch, hopefully I can work with a bunch of them someday!”
Zoe: “Podcast released right before dogs medical bath. Deeply passionate about the fact that the two gay guys who talk about tv shows and world events release their podcast the day before I have to give my dog his weekly medical bath. I don’t know who RHONY is but I love hearing those two talk about them when I am scrubbing down my dog’s infected areas.”
Ooh now I wanna listen to podcasts and take a medical bath.
