Last year I made a vegan meatloaf for Thanksgiving. I was pretty much the only one who ate it, and it made me violently ill in a way sometimes my own cooking does. It’s happened a couple times with soups, too. This year I didn’t make the vegan meatloaf and I guess you could call that Progress.
Passions this week include: People Magazine going soft, yellow leaves, and bundt cake.
I read a People Magazine article that said Rita Wilson makes Nora Ephron’s yam recipe for her family every Thanksgiving. Specifically, it’s a recipe for Orange Praline Yams. Can you imagine Chet Hanks asking for a second helping of Nora Ephron’s OPYs? I keep trying to, and it does not compute. After decades of brutal and invasive celebrity gossip, I love seeing People Magazine going soft around the holidays.
Tell me something more beautiful than a tree ablaze with yellow leaves. The sun shines through them and tints everything golden. Maybe I’m going soft, too. Make room, People Magazine.
Okay I fuckin love bundt cake. My birthday’s coming up, so my mom generously made a bundt cake. You know just looking at a slice of bundt it’s going to be a-dense, b-rich, and c-moist. Just how I like my men yuk yuk yuk. Truly, I’ve lived on this earth now 37 years never been disappointed by a bundt. I wish that guy from Cheers was named George Bundt. Fuck! Who’s soft now?
And now some from the readers…
Sam: “I’m passionate about that time between TSA and take off at an airport. You get to the airport so early and go through the frantic security process, then boom you get to relax until you board the plane. (Plus you can get yourself a little treat for being such a good good airport boy.)”
Maria: “One of my little passions is bringing a peanut butter sandwich to work. Pulling it out of my lunchbox and biting into the bread is just as good now as it was when I was nine. I can't believe I get to live on a planet where chilled, salty, rich Smuckers organic peanut butter gets to grace my lips once a day.”
Julie: “My passion is glitter!! It gets a bad rap but really it’s just very beautiful. I like to put it on projects, on me, and also on nothing just keep it around and look at it. Michael’s had a sale and I got three large bags for 5 dollars each, 30 oz of glitter. Never enough!”
